An Introduction

Why, hello there!

In case you stumbled upon my blog and have no idea who I am, here's a brief introduction.

I'm a 31 year old based in the bay area with a probably disturbing amount of passion for running. I think I annoy pretty much all my friends and family with the topic, so I decided to open up this blog and go wild here.

My running career goes all the way back to 2010! Prior to that, I was probably the least fit person you'd meet. In the past five years, I've raced in dozens of events ranging from 5ks to marathons. I'm usually a frontish mid-packer (In running terms it means somewhere in the top third finishers), but I've been plagued with a lot of injuries. You name it, and I've probably had it.

To turn this trend around, I decided to take up MAF training. Maximum Aerobic Function, in case you were wondering what it stood for. It is a training program by Phil Maffetone which follows a 180 formula. Read more about that HERE. Basically the idea is "slow and steady wins the race."

My MAF heart rate is a nice 149, and it has definitely been a learning experience. I've been training like this since December 2014. It has been a long, grueling process, but it has changed my life for the better. '

Additionally, I consider myself to be a guinea pig of experiments with nutrition and training techniques. I hope to always be learning new things and exploring. My nutrition plan right now is somewhere between low-carb-high-fat, to a paleo approach.

Lastly, I'm just recently diving into the world of ultra marathons. My first 50 miler is April 4th 2015.
